OPRCH is an interdisciplinary studio revealing the unique identities of organizations and communities through transformative design and placemaking.

This ADAPTIVE REUSE of a concrete warehouse introduces 6,000sf of creative office space and 30,000sf of manufacturing. Meeting rooms and informal lounges look out to the production floor while the central ramp opens views through to the landscaped garden beyond.

Public and private work spaces accommodate a mix of on-site and semi-remote employees. Separating office volumes from the perimeter and ceiling and allows light to be shared between enclosed and open areas - avoiding a built-in office hierarchy.

This HEALING GARDEN creates an essential link between a Community Health Center and neighboring residents through a collaborative design process to install a cooperative space for rehabilitation, education, and shared stewardship.

The HEALING GARDEN is a collaboration with YouthBuild Boston

The design of the ELMIRA CORNING REGIONAL AIRPORT embeds the Security Checkpoint and Departure Lounges into a unique landscape at the heart of the airport, transforming the worst experiences of air travel into the best.

Penn Ruderman led the design of the ELMIRA CORNING REGIONAL AIRPORT for the office of Fennick McCredie Architecture.

To create this ARTIST LOFT, a long dormer was cut into an unused attic, creating a bright studio nestled into the surrounding tree canopy. An office, bathroom, and sleeping nook are tucked into shelves running the length of the loft.

The ARTIST LOFT is a collaboration of OPRCH and Seth Hoffman as AFFILIATED PROJECTS.

iLAH is a JEWELRY STORE, GALLERY, and SOCIAL SPACE rolled into one.

Equal parts apothecary, salon gallery, magical forest, and cabinet of curiosities, iLAH realizes a singular vision of store as a one-of-a-kind experience uniquely linked with the local community.

The HIDDEN GARDEN creates a secluded refuge under the dappled light of a shady tree canopy in a dense Massachusetts neighborhood.

Embraced by a composition of planted and potted greenery, a single long platform becomes the setting for a series of intimate outdoor rooms.

The ALLEN COURT ART POLES is one of a series of works transforming a service alley into a public art corridor. Emerging from the pavement like unruly seedlings, the poles stretch around the corner to invite visitors in from Worcester Common and City Hall.

Horizontal crown moldings wrap from floor-to-ceiling around the AESOP STORE on Newbury Street, enveloping the retail space in natural oak.

The AESOP STORE is a collaboration of OPRCH and William O’Brien Jr. Organization For Architecture, with OPRCH acting as Architect of Record.

This MAKERSPACE MASTERPLAN set out the strategic groundwork for the funding and planning of the largest manufacturing incubator in New England.

52,000 Square feet of industrial factory was reconfigured to a mixed-used facility for digital and physical prototyping and fabrication, leasable commercial space, collaborative workshops, conference areas, classrooms, and indoor/outdoor galleries.

The DORMITORY ADDITION transforms an outdated barracks-style campus building, bringing openness and light to the residential quad.

The Marshall “Major” Taylor installation is both a beacon and a tribute, invoking the physical dynamics of cycling: the importance of a clean line, the ability to weave out of a pocket, and a PERFECT JUMP for the finish.

A PERFECT JUMP is a collaboration with artists Laura Marotta and Seth Hoffman.

The OPEN BIKE proposal treats a bike fabrication workshop as a storefront gallery, putting craftsmanship front and center.

Display hooks, bike racks, and lighting each plug into the peg-board grid lining the walls and ceiling, creating a configurable space to showcase completed work and custom products.

A continuous cladding of light and dark stained cedar boards wraps all surfaces of this BARN in Lincoln, Massachusetts, melding the building with the surrounding landscape.

The BARN was designed by Penn Ruderman working for Michael Price Architects.

The ARCHITECTURE STUDIO was conceived with the mentality of a hot rod chop-shop. Inessential wall, ceiling, and floor surfaces of a conservative law office were stripped away, exposing the raw materials and structure of the existing building.

Penn Ruderman led the design of the ARCHITECTURE STUDIO for Fennick McCredie Architecture.

The PETAL GARDEN transforms a suburban yard into a recreational landscape of linked outdoor rooms.

By intentionally creating an ‘anti-lawn,’ this sustainable oasis becomes a low-consumption combination of restorative clover groundcover and pea stone gravel.

For the SERIF / SANS-SERIF NEWEL, geometric font transforms into a continuous decorative script around the surface of a mahogany sphere, combining techniques of graffiti and ornament.

We are fascinated by graffiti tags, throw-ups, and murals. If you feel like graffiti is appropriate to apply to your building, landscape, office space, or home, definitely talk to us. You are the clients that we are looking for. If you feel like graffiti is appropriate for you to apply to someone else's home or office space we can still talk, but in a more private place, and more quietly.
